Portugal on stamps

This is the second of 14 definitive stamps issued in 1965. The set shows British ships, except this one, depicting the flagship of the fleet commanded by Tristão da Cunha that discovered the archipelago in 1506 on its way to India.

The stamp was issued on 17 February 1965 and has perforation 11½. Its face value is 1 penny in the pre-decimal British currency (1 pound = 20 shillings = 240 pence).
