Portugal on stamps

This issue commemorates the inauguration of the Porto oil refinery on June 2nd 1970. I like very much the design with not quite straight and parallel lines, unrealistic colours, and the use of light and shadows. It gives the refinery an eerie night glow, reminiscent of some film noir scenes.

The stamps were designed by António Lino, lithographed by the Mint on enamelled paper sheets of 10×10 stamps with perforation 13½, and circulated from 5 June 1970 to 31 December 1983.
