I am Michel Wermelinger, a senior lecturer in the Computing Department of The Open University in the UK. Previously I was a lecturer in the Computing Department of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal, and a full-time consultant at ATX Software SA. My area of research and teaching is software engineering. The links at the top of the page lead to a selection of my professional activities, both internal and external. The activities are listed in reverse chronological order of completion, i.e. currently ongoing activities are listed first. For a complete list of my past activities, see my CV. For some of my non-professional interests see my blogs about games and Portugal.
At the object level, this blog is about my work, and at the meta level, it is about itself. The blog tells its own life story: why and how it was created, and how it changes and grows through the addition of Wordpress plugins and other Web 2.0 widgets. Hence the sub-title “a self-explanatory site”.
As I walk through the internet, I will mention which software and sites I look at, which ones I leave by the side and which ones I pick up to use in this blog and, more importantly, why. In other words, I will record my learning experience in the world of Web 2.0 (including WordPress), in the hope it is useful to others.
